Yabay and Goodel
‘If you can’t play with the big dogs…then you are not a part of technology today. It seems that bolder is beautiful, bigger is better, and broader is best. The big, broad, beautiful and bold would be none other than Yahoo, eBay, Google and Dell. All four information industry giants have cleared the way for a ‘brave new world’ in software, advertising, ecommerce and search. It is not ‘big brother ‘you have to worry about, it is the whole family!
Yahoo and eBay teamed up last week as an internet search and ecommerce team. With this partnership Yahoo will be the exclusive third party provider of all graphical ads on eBay, and eBay’s PayPal will be used for Yahoo payment services. Yahoo search and site links will be integrated into a co-branded version of the eBay toolbar.
Google and Dell have come together in another way. The Google software will now be preinstalled on all Dell computers, this way the search engine is automatically available to the Dell customers. This of course is a strike of genius. I myself have been using Internet Explorer for years simply because it was on the Desktop when I got the computer. Only recently did I start using Fire Fox!
So we have two Search engine giants matching up with equally powerful yet uniquely different partners. It seems that it is all about not necessarily giving the user less choice, just giving them a pre choice and hoping they will stick with it. Considering how lazy society has become with the tools or technology as well as compliant with its application, my money is on these marriages for sure. We like our surfing like our McDee’s fast and choice limited.
