Sometimes all you need is the right inspiration to get a project started. With interior design, I find one of the hardest obstacles is seeing your space through another person’s eyes. Looking outside of the box, so-to-speak. If you can imagine an area without the walls that split up your area it would be so much easier to make the decision about taking it out.

The ability to visualize your space in a different shade, with a new layout, or complimented by modern furniture is not a universal trait. Many of us know when our area needs a change, a face lift. We see a theme and we want to incorporate it into our own home. Unfortunately, as we glance up from the article to our own space, pausing to look back and forth, the majority of us find the idea daunting and the project never gets done. 

Since not all of us can be interior designers, or afford to hire them, the right inspiration is what we need. Here is a website that indeed has that inspiration! It is Apartment Therapy and it is amazing.

At this site, not only are there tips, articles, and amazing links on everything you didn’t want to know about apartment living and home design, but there are beautiful photos of very unique ideas. Their goal is “To connect people to the resources they need to redecorate their home, while reducing their reliance on stuff.” They provide home design news, reviews, free classifieds, weekly surveys, open threads and comment areas. 

In addition to this they hold monthly contests on design. Just browsing this section alone, looking at all the finalists, reading about their design journey, seeing the before and after shots, is enough to inspire just about anyone into redefining their home design. 

At this site there is a section for current and past contests for interior design. You can browse This site is simply delightful, and I totally recommend it to anyone who has an interest in design, floor plans, renovations, or simply likes to snoop into other peoples homes….I know I tend to do that ….
