Back in Nova Scotia

Wow, it has been a long time since I wrote here! Soooo sorry! Lets us catch up shall we? Lets see….I graduated Mount Royal College and am finally a real life interior designer – at the same time we sold the house and the day after my graduation we to Costa Rica for 10 days! After a week and a half of total debauchery ( we also toured the canopies of the rain forest, horse backed, surfed, visited Nicaragua, and learned that the best rum in the world is actually in a can …) we came back to Calgary. We packed up the dogs and left Alberta in our new truck and headed back home to Nova Scotia.

We stopped in each province, leaving the penguin mark in one way or another, and finally made it to Halifax. We are now residing in a fantastic home in Blanford ( courtesy of Jon’s sister Catherine) and have just purchased a house in Windsor that is actually older than Canada. It is here that we will hopefully start our B&B in about a year…..This place is amazing! It needs a lot of work but it is so awesome!

The JaK attack has followed us to the brisk shores of the North Atlantic, and we posted our first one last week. We move into our new home in Windsor on Halloween, and life is moving on…..

Wow! That is a lot isn’t it! So hopefully now that THAT is all out of my system, I can get back to my blog,,,,, and the penguins!

    Welcome to Nova Scotia.
Too bad you’ve seen the end of the good weather till next September. Windsor is a nice place and does have 2 Tim’s :)

I enjoy your show, found it today and am slowly catching up. Maybe I can contribute when we stay at your B&B, I must warn you tho that I think Linux is only free to those whose time has no value :), I can’t remember where I found this but it was likely Googling Ubuntu, surfing Ubuntu Wikis, pleading on Ubuntu forums or pulling what hair I have left…. Running Feisty and Beryl, can’t wait for Gutsy cause I got like 5 hairs left on my head and it still costs me full price for a haircut.

Thanks Pierre, and for the record, I am not a total Linux guru…if you read some of my other entries on my first tries with Linux then you will see that I am not all smiles with the long hours needed for it! I actually got rid of my Acer cuz I was done with trying to get my wifi working with the different distros! Now I have a toshiba satellite….I will try again once Hardy Heron 8.04 comes out after GG!

I hear you, or should I say heard you. I haven’t dared try and install Linux on my laptop, I do need a working machine for googling when Ubuntu reboots to a blank screen :)

I did run the live CD in the laptop, Feisty detects the ralink card in my Averatec Laptop, and it configures in seconds. I haven’t dared try the sleep or die modes yet. The Beta of GG doesn’t see the WiFi card so I might be waiting for HH also.

Thats strange, if FF supports it then so should GG, unless it has been dropped from the list. Prior to EE Jon had to install the linux-686 package to get his wifi to work. You might have to do the same thing? I still have not ventured with the linux on the laptop, but when I do and when I have wifi problems ( notice I say when not if)I will visit the ubuntu forums for a looksy —-you should do the same? Dont you have a few hairs left?

Hi, Me and my boyfriend have lived in Calgary for 5 years now, and are ready to make the trek back to NOva Scotia. We are trying to get in touch with people who have done it, trying to see how they did it, it they regret it, would they have done anythin differently?? We still need to sell our house, which looks a little grim right now anyways. My boyfriend is actually from Windsor Nova Scotia! So if you have any advice for us, please pass it on!

    Thanks
    Jen
