An Apple With Spots
The new cat in town is efficient, it is flexible and it likes fruit. Meet Leopard, Apple’s newest addition to the family, introduced at the Apple Worldwide Developer’s Conference last week.
This new Mac OS X operating system – also known as Mac OS X10.5 – provides features like an automatic backup ( Time Machine), and an improved email (Mail). It also includes 3 software packages that normally are sold separately with the operating system – PhotoBooth, BootCamp, and Front Row.

Other great features are Spaces (a way to work with various application windows rather than having 15 applications clutter up one desktop), Core Animation (an amazing graphics program), and Web Clip (a dashboard widget friendly program). Best of all, Leopard is universally friendly with Universal Access. This application has features such as voiceover enhancements, braille support and closed captioning.
Okay enough with the shinnies…..
This latest version will also allow application developers to create 64-bit applications using Apple’s Carbon and Cocoa development tools. Those 64-bit applications will be able to run alongside 32-bit applications created for older operating systems, Scott Forstall, Apple’s vice president for platform experience, said during the first day of Apple’s. I have no idea what this actually means, but I am sure that some of you will appreciate it!
I have always liked the sexiness of the Mac, but could never afford the eliteness of it. Now with such a user friendly package, who can truly resist?

Unfortunately the Mail is all but improved depending on what you mean by that. Mail now runs a proprietary storage of your emails, as oposed to the standard mbox. What makes this an itunes of mail, now your mails are not transferable to other applications like Mozilla mail/Thunderbird, Opera Mail and so many other applications that store mail as an mbox file which can be read even without the application.
